Abstract
1321863 Non-contact-making switches INTERNATIONAL COMPUTERS Ltd 26 May 1971 [27 Feb 1970] 9627/70 Heading H3B A transistor 14, Fig. 2, is switched to its conductive state by bridging a pair of contacts 1, 1<SP>1</SP> with a human finger, the transistor base current being limited by a series resistor 13 while pick-up hum is removed by a shunt capacitor 11. The change of state of transistor 14 is amplified through inverting transistors 16, 18 and is applied as a D.C. output at terminal 20. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the transistor 14 is replaced by a Darlington pair. A plurality of contact pairs each controlling a different transistor may be mounted on a common panel, Fig. 1 (not shown), and a contact pair may be shaped to form an appropriate label, Fig. 4. A modified contact arrangement uses three contacts 31a, 31b, 32, Fig. 6, of which the outer contacts are commoned.
