Abstract

1321457 Trays NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 3 Aug 1971 [8 May 1970] 22267/70 Heading A4A [Also in Division B1] A hospital utensil comprises a tray member, restraining means in association with the tray member to prevent lateral movement of a plate dish or like utensil placed on the tray member and an apertured cover 17 which is releasably secured to the tray member and prevents removal of the plate or dish from the tray member. The tray member comprises a dished tray 11 having a peripheral flange 12 to one edge of which are fixed plates 13 for locating the cover 17 and chains 22 to which eating utensils can be attached. The base of the tray has restraining blocks 14 to hold the dish or plate or it may have a depression to accept the base of the dish or plate or be covered in non- slip material. The cover is of inverted dish shape which fits within the flange 12. A flange 18 along one edge of the cover is held under the plates 13 and the cover fixed in place by a bolt 19 which engages under a bracket 16 on the tray member. Apertures 20 in the top of the cover are smaller than the dish or plate used and enable the contents of the dish or plate to be removed. The tray member and cover may be made of a plastics material.
