Abstract
1292009 Packaging G HORDIJK HOUTINDUSTRIE ZAANDAM NV 19 April 1971 [7 April 1970] 26483/71 Heading B8C The lid 6 of a receptacle is folded on to its filled body 5 by the action of a freely pivoted hook 14 and of a fixed guide 18. The hook 14 has a sufficient extent, perpendicular to the plane of the drawing, to engage the whole of the leading edge of the receptacle so that the latter is correctly orientated by the hook. The receptacle is made of resilient plastics and has several compartments containing tomatoes 8. The receptacle is carried by a conveyer 11 formed of several laterally spaced belts. The guide 18 is formed by a similar number of spaced strips. Plungers 22 and 23 work through the gaps between the strips and belts to force snap fastener elements 9 and 10 into engagement. While the plungers 22 and 23 are acting, the receptacle is held stationary by retractable stops 20. In modifications (not shown), the stops 20 may be complemented by others which act from beneath the conveyer, and the stops may be associated with a plate for holding the receptacle hinge strip 7 vertical.
