Abstract
1321329 Piperidine derivatives TEIKOKU CHEMICAL INDUSTRY CO Ltd 23 Sept 1971 [25 Sept 1970 30 May 1971 (2) 23 Aug 1971] 44362/71 Heading C2C Compounds of Formula I are prepared by action of a base on novel compounds of Formula II in which formulae R is H or OH and Ar and Ar<SP>1</SP> are each phenyl optionally substituted for example, by C 1 -C 8 alkyl, halogen or C 1 -C 8 alkoxy substituents, and n is 2, 3 or 4, which are prepared by reaction of a compound of Formula IV wherein X is a reactive acid residue with a compound of Formula III given below. Intermediates of Formula III are prepared as in the reaction scheme wherein R<SP>1</SP> is C 1 -C 8 alkyl and R<SP>11</SP> is H, C 1 -C 8 olkoxy or C 1 -C 8 alkanoyloxy. Intermediates of Formula IV above wherein R = OH are prepared as a reaction scheme in which formulae Y is H, -(CH 2 ) n-1 OH or -(CH 2 ) n-1 X and those wherein R is H are prepared by reduction of the compounds of Formula XVI given in the above scheme. The compounds of Formula I are used in pharmaceutical compositions.
