Abstract

1396240 Derivatives of 2-hydroxybenzophenone CHEMICKE ZAVODY J DIMITROVA NARODNY PODNIK 2 Oct 1973 46060/73 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] The invention comprises derivatives of 2- hydroxybenzophenone having the general Formula I wherein R stands for a normal or branched chain alkyl, or a cycloalkyl, or aralkyl group, having 1 to 18 carbon atoms; R<SP>1</SP> stands for H, OH, halogen or NH 2 ; X stands for -(CH 2 ) n - wherein n is an integer of from 1 to 16. The compounds of Formula I may be prepared by reacting a compound of the formula wherein R and R<SP>1</SP> are as above with a dihalogen alkane having the general formula halogen- X-halogen wherein X stands for -(CH 2 ) n - and wherein the halogen is chlorine or bromine, the reaction being carried out in a medium of aliphatic ketone and in the presence of an alkali metal carbonate.
