Abstract
1321279 Battery intercell connections SOC FULMEN and MANUFACTURE D'ACCUMULATEURS ET D'OBJETS MOULES 13 Nov 1970 [14 Nov 1969] 54272/70 Heading H1B Groups of lead plates in adjacent cells of an accumulator are connected by means of a plurality of rods each having a diameter of 5 mm. or less and passing through a similarly sized hole 4 in an intercell partition 1. The rods may be formed integrally with connecting bars 15, 16 when these are cast by pouring lead into moulds 13, 14, which fit on lugs 10 extending from the plates. Alternatively, the rods may be pre-formed members (21, Fig. 6, not shown) which are force-fitted in the partition. The accumulator case 2 is preferably of polypropylene or an ethylene-propylene copolymer and the upper edges of the moulds may be welded to internal ribs (22, Figs. 7, 8, not shown) on a cover 17 when the latter is welded to the case. The sealing may be reinforced by running a resin or other material over the bars and/or around the plate lugs.
