Abstract

1320690 Dyeing pile fabrics COURTAULDS Ltd 19 Nov 1970 [20 Nov 1969] 56764/69 Heading D1B Pile fabrics comprising pile yarns tufted through a backing fabric are dyed by applying to the non-pile face of the backing fabric a coating comprising a mixture of a polyamide with ethylene vinyl acetate which locks the pile yarns in the backing fabric and withstands the dyebath conditions when the pile fabric is subsequently dyed. The polyamide is preferably nylon 6 or 66. The example describes dyeing an acrylic pile tufted carpet, the backing fabric being woven polypropylene.
