Abstract

1320562 Hinges and pivots HERBERT TERRY & SONS Ltd 19 April 1971 [10 Feb 1970] 6232/70 Heading E2F A hinge comprises a cylindrical sleeve 10 formed with a slot 12, a tube 16 extending radially of the hinge axis through the slot 12, and a spring 20 concentric with the hinge axis and stressed in a direction parallel to the hinge axis by a screw 22. The spring disc 20 is made fast with a screw-tapped post 18 formed on tube 16 by screw 22, and the edges of the spring 20 are biassed into contact with rebates 14 on the sleeve to provide a frictional resistance to the hingeing movement of the tube 16. In the embodiment shown, two spring discs 20 are provided, one for each side of the sleeve 10.
