1320559 Fluid operated rotary drive mechanisms G SCHAFER 9 Oct 1970 [24 Oct 1969] 48100/70 Heading F1D A fluid pressure operated rotary drive mechanism comprises a rotatable shaft 50 with rollers 59, 60 engaging curved slots 33, 34 in a sleeve 30 attached to a double-acting piston 25, the shaft 50 being supported not only by a bearing 51 in end plate 17 but also by a bearing 52 in a sleeve 43 detachably connected to plate 17 and extending into the cylinder within piston sleeve 30. Frustoconical bearing rollers 37, 38 engage slots 39, 40 in sleeve 43 to prevent relative rotation between piston 25 and cylinder 10 so that movement of piston 25 causes rotation of shaft 50 due to the interengaging rollers 59, 60 and slots 33, 34. The rollers 37, 38 may be replaced by slide blocks. Fig. 4 (not shown) or the sleeve 30 may be located inside an insert member attached to the cylinder, an external roller on sleeve 30 engaging a slot in the insert member, Fig. 6 (not shown).
