Abstract

1320482 Gas turbine engine combustion equipment DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 20 Jan 1972 [25 Jan 1971] 3053/71 Heading F1L The invention relates to ducts one surface of which is exposed to a hot fluid and to means for cooling such ducts, the invention being described with reference to combustion equipment of a gas turbine engine. The equipment is of the kind comprising an annular flame tube each wall of which is formed of sections inter-connected by members such as 9. The member comprises an upstream portion 11 and a downstream portion 10 and an intermediate portion 12 of frusto-conical form through which a series of circumferential rows of holes 13 is formed for the passage of cooling air. The diameter of each hole 13 is in the range 0.005 inch to 0.030 inch. The holes in each row are staggered such that holes in any two adjacent rows are spaced equi-distantly. The holes are formed by means of electron beam pulse drilling.
