Abstract
1319894 Pesticidal phosphorus esters; substituted benzisoxazoles BAYER AG 13 Aug 1971 [14 Aug 1970] 38097/71 Headings C2C and C2P] The invention comprises compounds of the general formula in which X is O or S, R and R 1 are C 1 -C 6 alkyl radicals, R 1 alternatively denoting a C 1 -C 6 alkoxy radical, Y is H or C 1 -C 4 alkyl, and Y 1 is H, a C 1 -C 4 alkyl or alkylmercapto radical, NO 2 or (but only when Y is a C 1 -C 4 alkyl radical) a chlorine atom, provided that Y and Y 1 are not both hydrogen. They are prepared by reacting a compound either in the presence of an acid acceptor or in the form of an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or ammonium salt, with an ester halide of the formula (RO)(R)P(X)Hal wherein Hal is halogen. The reaction is preferably carried out in the presence of an inert organic solvent. The products have insecticidal, acaricidal, nematocidal, tickicidal and fungicidal properties and may be used as active ingredients in conventional pestioidal compositions. Reference is made to Specification 965,997. The 3-hydroxybenzisoxazole derivatives II are obtained by reacting the appropriately substituted salicylhydroxamic acid with thionyl chloride. This method is applied using the appropriately substituted salicylhydroxamic acid to form compounds II in which Y is H and Y 1 is NO 2 , CH 3 S and (CH 3 ) 3 C respectively and also a compound in which Y is CH 3 and Y 1 is H.
