Abstract
1319596 Pipe couplings BRITISH STEEL CORP 5 Aug 1970 [10 Sept 1969] 3595/73 Divided out of 1319595 Heading F2G An anchoring member, such as a split spring ring 12, in a groove 10 of a socket 1, springs into a groove 11 in a spigot 3, as the latter is pushed into the socket. The joint may be sealed by tightening gland ring 8 to compress sealing ring 13. The ring 12 is formed with a bevelled edge 21 co-operating with the mutually inclined surface 20 of the groove 10, to force the ring firmly against the spigot upon attempted separation of the coupling. A taper 5 on the spigot co-operates with a further bevelled edge 22 to facilitate engagement of the coupling.
