1319298 Ball joints MOTOR INDUSTRY RESEARCH ASSOCIATION 12 Oct 1971 [3 Aug 1970] 37375/70 Heading E2F [Also in Division G5] A simulated skeletal joint in a lay figure (Division G5) comprises two members 2, 3 with mating concave and convex surfaces interconnected by a ball-headed pin 6 having its head engaging a part-spherical bearing surface 5 in the convex surface 3 and its pin passing through an irregular aperture in the surface 3 to be secured under adjustable spring 8 loading in the concave surface 2, the pin and irregular aperture co-operating to form stops permitting different angular ranges in different pivotal directions. The joint simulated may be a hip and a femur 4 may be integral with or, as shown, connectible to the member 3.
