Abstract
1319195 Blasting J A CAMPBELL 16 May 1972 [18 May 1971] 15462/71 Heading B3D A wheel for a shot blasting machine comprises sides b 2 which are formed with slots b 1 , and blades b mounted between the sides in the slots, the trailing edges b 3 of the slots being chamfered or cut away to allow for the escape of abrasive material therefrom. The wheel is mounted on a spindle a for rotation thereof and abrasive is fed to the centre of the wheel through a shoot a 1 . The blades b are secured in the slots b 1 by screws c which pass through supports C extending between the sides b 2 and press the blades against the front of the slots. The trailing edges b 3 of the slots are chamfered to extend to the supports and the chamfers may extend for the whole, or part of, the length of the slots. The blades are unmachined castings and the chamfers prevent the abrasive which would pass along the clearance between the blades and sides of the slots from causing wear of the slots.
