Abstract
1319049 Press frames CARBOX AB 12 May 1972 [26 Nov 1971] 22449/72 Heading B5F A press frame comprises two parallel yokes 3, 4 which at one pair of adjacent ends support press tools 7 and 8 and which are held apart by at least one column 6 spaced along the yokes from the tools, and pretensioned members 14 forming an, or part of an, external loop arranged so that the column 6, or the part of the column when there is only one, which is nearest to the tools 7, 8 is subjected by the loop to a compressive stress which in the absence of any press forces is substantially higher than that on another column 5, or the part of the column, remote from the tools. The external loop may consist of pretensioned cables or of arms extending outwardly from the yokes and joined by pretensioned cables. The press could be other than vertical.
