1319048 Packaging machines STORK AMSTERDAM NV 9 May 1972 [17 May 1971] 21564/72 Heading B8C In apparatus for packaging poultry carcasses and comprising a pusher 23 which pushes the carcass through a shoot 3 and into a bag 39, the shoot having walls pivoted at the top end thereof so as to be moved apart by the passage of the carcass, a pressure member 26 follows the pusher 23 to hold the shoot in expanded form to facilitate bagging. The pusher 23 is carried by the rod 24 of a pneumatic ram 25, the pressure member 26 being slidably received on the rod 24 and connected to rods 27 carrying rings 28 which abut a guide 27a to limit downward movement of the member 26. A pivotal guide plate 18 projects into the shoot 3 and has stops 29 which, when the plate 18 is pivoted forwardly, act as stops for the member 26. The bag is secured to the shoot by clamps 37a, 37b, 38a, 38b, and is held in a guide 40 having an inflatable casing 41. The bottom of the bag is supported on a disc 43 which, after filling of the bag, is lowered and pivoted to place the bagged carcass on a conveyer. The carcass is positioned by means of ribs 16 on the back wall 7 of the shoot, the legs 59 of the carcass being positioned by a pair of pivotal arms 32 which are advanced by a cylinder 35 to strike the guide plate 18 and be pivoted towards one another by the sides of the plate 18. Four shoots are carried by a central shaft 1 and are moved through the four work stations, at the first of which a bag is attached to the shoot, at the second a carcass is introduced into the shoot, at the third the carcass is bagged, and at the fourth the shoot is disinfected.
