Abstract

1318661 Target for shooting OLIN CORP 18 May 1971 15570/71 Heading A6D [Also in Divisions B5 and F4] A target comprises a cavity substantially enclosed by a frangible wall of a frozen aqueous medium. The wall preferably has a thickness no greater than 1/8 inch and may be formed of air free ice and the ice may be coloured. The cavity may be pressurised. In making such a target a two-part mould has a required quantity of pre-cooled water injected therein and the mould is rotated and rocked in a brine solution at a temperature below freezing point of water so that an ice wall is formed on the inside of the mould. Air under pressure may be introduced into the inside of the mould during the freezing. To remove the target from the mould the outside of the mould is warmed and air may be introduced between the mould and the target to eject the latter.
