Abstract

1318516 Vertically adjustable scaffolding KWIKFORM Ltd 21 July 1970 [28 Oct 1969] 52659/69 Heading E1S In a scaffold frame comprising at least one upright and one transverse member, for use in constructing e.g. a scaffold tower, a height adjusting device comprises an element 11 disposed between and slidably mounted on two spaced apart parallel tubes or bars 12, the slide element 11 having a short tube 18 for load-transmitting connection with an upright member of a lower scaffold frame, the two tubes or bars 12 being connected together and spaced to accommodate between them part of that upright member and having a number of longitudinally spaced holes 37, and the slide element 11 having load-transmitting pins 23 selectively engageable with these holes. The short tube 18 of the slide element is rigidly connected to two sleeves 21 which slide on the bars or tubes 12 and is connected by a threaded bolt to a plate 26; the pins 23 rest in recesses 22 in the sleeves 21 and the plate 26 is provided with extensions 27 which prevent inadvertent removal of the pins 23 from the holes 37, and the plate 26 also has pins 29 which bear against the bars or tubes 12 to clamp the slide element 11 thereto when the bolt is tightened. A scaffold tower is constructed from such frames in the manner described in Specification 1163000.
