Abstract
1318286 Anti-skid braking systems KELSEY HAYES CO 5 Aug 1970 [22 Sept 1969] 37742/70 Heading F2F An antiskid brake control system comprises means for detecting the occurrence of an incipient skid at one wheel and providing a control signal in response thereto, a first control for modulating the fluid pressure to the brakes of one wheel in response to the signal and a second control connected with the second wheel for controlling its speed in accordance with the speed of the second wheel. A power booster 10 actuated by a pedal 12 operates in a dual master cylinder 18 to provide pressure output for one pair of brakes at line 20 and another pair at line 22. A vehicle wheel 24 includes a motor brake system I connected with a slave cylinder I for wheel 28 and a wheel 26 includes a master cylinder II connected with a slave cylinder II for a wheel 30. Booster 70 is controlled by a pilot valve 14 via pedal 12 but in addition it can be controlled by a modulating control 32 actuated by a skid control module I 34 which receives a speed signal from a wheel speed sensor 38. The wheels controlled together are located on opposite sides of the vehicle to enhance directional stability of the vehicle during braking.
