Abstract

1318203 Door operating device W & T AVERY Ltd 3 Dec 1970 [19 Dec 1969] 61901/ 69 Heading E2M A door assembly comprises two doors 11, 12 of a hopper 10 and an actuating linkage which includes a restraining arm 17 pivotally mounted about a fixed axis, parallel to the hinge axes but nearer axis 16 than axis 15. An actuating portion, pivot pin 18 of the arm 17 moves in an arcuate path 19, and is attached to links 21, 22 which are in turn attached to lugs 23, 24 respectively on the doors 11, 12. The link 21 lies tangentially to the arcuate path 19 when the doors are in the closed position, and so at the beginning of the opening movement the link 21 receives a greater component of longitudinal movement than link 22 and so opens sooner than link 22. In the open position link 22 is tangential to path 19 and so closes sooner than link 21. The linkage is connected by link 27 to a locking arm 25, securing the linkage in the closed position.
