Abstract

1317987 Material special for actuating internal combustion engines STAMICARBON N V 24 July 1970 [26 July 1969(3)] 36143/70 Heading F1B [Also in Division C5] A spark-ignition internal combustion engine 3 which employs as fuel a preformed homogeneous mixture of O 2 , N 3 and CH 4 , see Fig. 1 (not shown), is connected to a N 2 - containing natural gas source 1 and an O 2 source 2 through a mixing unit A and safety unit B. Flow lines 31, 32 include criticalorifice measuring flanges 71, 72 which ensure constant gas flow independent of changes in the operating conditions of the engine. The two gases are mixed in a chamber 5 which contains inert particles. The unit B includes a flameextinguisher 10 which is filled with glass beads or metal shavings, and a rupture plate 11.
