Abstract

1317948 Cooling liquids in bulk; hollow-plate heat exchange elements PAMPUS KG 16 July 1970 [22 July 1969] 34548/70 Heading F4S A hollow-plate heat exchange element consists of a sheet of plastics material such as polytetrafluorethylene, folded over and welded at the edges to form a closed bag, the sheet having integrally formed strap members 6 enabling the element to be suspended therefrom into a fluid to be cooled by a coolant flowing through the element. The coolant enters and leaves the bag by way of inlet and outlet tubes 2, 3 and a sinuous flow path within the bag is provided by joining together the sheet portions along weld lines 4, 5 as shown. The element may form all or part only of a lining for a vessel containing a corrosive fluid to be cooled.
