1317753 Boots &c A W CLOSSON 29 July 1970 [5 Aug 1969] 36798/70 Heading A3B A counter stiffener suitable for use in shoes with moulded-on soles consists of a sheet of foamed elastomeric polymer having a Vicat softening point of 140‹F or above and a sheet of fabric, the foamed sheet forming the major thickness of the stiffener. The preferred foamed polymer is an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer but other useful polymers include styrenebutadiene rubber, polyvinyl chloride, polyurethane elastomers, polyethylene, chlorinated or chlorosulfonated polyethylene and the like.
