1317483 Hydraulic gear motors TRW Inc 13 Aug 1970 [22 Dec 1969] 39089/70 Heading F1F In an externally meshing gear motor, one or more circumferentially extending grooves 37, 38 are provided in the peripheral walls 34, 36 of each bore 18, 20, communicating with the inlet 14, either directly as shown, or via ducts in the casing and external lines, Figs.4-6 (not shown), so that the breakaway torque due to friction on starting up or accelerating is substantially reduced. The total width of the groove or grooves 37, 38 is less than, and preferably about one half, the width of the gear teeth.
