Abstract

1316798 Moulding composite masts FAIREY SA A ROLAND and J ROLAND 16 Dec 1970 [2 Jan 1970] 59727/70 Heading B5A [Also in Divisions B7 and E1] A mast comprising a core 1 in a compressed condition is enveloped by a casing 2 maintaining the core in the compressed condition. In the embodiment of Fig. 4 the casing includes a longitudinal tubular element 3 which holds the bolt rope for fastening the sail to the mast. The core is of polyurethane foam and the casing a resin impregnated glass fabric, the composite being subjected to externally applied all round pressure while subjected to heat.
