1316670 Perforating apparatus A L ROSS 29 July 1970 23539/72 Divided out of 1316669 Headings B4B and B5D A perforating apparatus for a bag making machine comprises a perforator roller 12 comprising a rotary shaft 13 having a toothed blade 19 mounted thereon, and an anvil roller 11 having an outer resilient surface 130, the toothed blade 19 having a pitch diameter such that the outer ends of the teeth penetrate the surface 130 of the anvil roller 11, and the blade 19 forming an acute angle z with the line connecting the axes of the shaft 13 and roller 11 at the moment when the teeth first touch the roller 11. The blade 19 is removably mounted in a blade holder 15 which in turn is removably mounted on a sleeve 14 which is angularly and axially adjustable on the shaft 13. The blade 19 comprises several blades (19a-19d) mounted on sleeves (14a-14d) respectively, blades (19a, 19b) and (19c, 19d) being angularly and axially offset with respect to each other and the adjacent edges of blades (19a, 19b) and (19c, 19d) being interconnected by corner blades (19y). In modifications, the blades 19 may be directly mounted on the sleeves and/or may be arcuately curved or may follow a squared or wavy configuration.
