Abstract

1316656 Protective sheath for cutting blades A V P HELLYER 1 Nov 1971 [20 Aug 1970] 40218/70 Heading B4B [Also in Division B8] A protective sheath for the blade or blades of a bladed tool, e.g. chisels, saws, shears, knives, comprises an outer cover 10 formed of a fluid impervious material, the cover being closed at one end and having an opening at the other end through which the blade or blades can be inserted and a liner 16 formed of an absorbent material provided within the cover. The outer cover 10 is formed from two separate pieces of P.V.C. welded together along a seam 12; the cover is formed with a flap 13 having a tab 14 for engagement with a strip 15. The liner may be made from expanded polyurethane and formed from one folded piece as shown, or from two separate pieces. A piece of wood may be inserted into the cover in order to protect it from the sharp edges of the blade. The closed end of the cover may be similarly protected. The liner may be impregnated with a lubricant.
