Abstract

1315714 Wax dispersions V BAROUH R GLENN and F ULLOA 5 Aug 1970 37766/70 Heading B1V [Also in Divisions B6 and C4] A protective coating composition in the form of a dispersion for a sheer bearing ink elements comprises 75-98 parts by weight of a solvent or diluent and 2-25 parts solids principally comprising waxes together with cellulose derivatives and resins. Where no resin is present the waxes may be added to a solvent while in a molten state, or molten wax may be added to a hot resin solution with agitation. Alternatively a dispersion of wax in a solvent may be made with a three-roller mill or ball mill, producing a paste which is added to a resin solution. Examples disclose compositions as follows:- I Isopropyl alcohol, carnauba wax, ethyl cellulose; V Paraffin wax, microcrystalline wax, acrylic resin, naphtha; VI Paraffin wax, beeswax, hydrogenated wood rosin, toluene; VII Paraffin wax, plastic microcrystalline wax, ethyl cellulose, toluene; VIII Polyethylene wax, maleic rosin resin toluene; IX Carnauba wax, plastic microcrystalline wax, naphtha; X Carnauba wax, ethyl cellulose, isopropyl alcohol.
