Abstract

1315702 Bolts R G JENKINS (Cooper Industries Inc) 8 May 1970 22364/70 Heading F2H [Also in Division G1] A fastener such as a bolt or rivet 30, Fig. 2, is provided with a groove 42 so that when the bolt is screwed up and under tension its head may provide a concavity as shown which may be measured to indicate the tension applied (see also Division G1). In Fig. 5 the groove is replaced by a thin separate washer 48 having the same effect and in Figs. 19, 20 the top of the head is grooved and/or recessed slightly. Deformation against tension graphs are plotted in Figs. 15, 16 and 17 (not shown).
