Abstract
1315606 Transformers FUJI DENKI SEIZO KK 24 Aug 1971 [27 Aug 1970 (2)] 39650/71 Heading H1T A device SD for circulating oil from an oil immersed transformer Tr and degasifying the oil to provide a sample of gas which may be analysed to give information about the condition of the transformer comprises a cylinder 13 provided with an oil-inlet 11, an oil outlet 12, a gas outlet 15 and a piston 14 which is sealed to the cylinder by 0-rings 16, 17. Non-return valves V1, V2, V3 are provided on the inlet 11, the outlet 12 and the outlet 15. The portion 141 of piston 14 is of smaller diameter than portion 142 to provide a chamber B which is connected to the inside of the cylinder above the portion 142 by a number of holes 143 provided in the member 142. In operation valves V1, V2 are opened and V3 closed, the piston 14 is reciprocated so that the oil is circulated from the transformer, and when the cylinder 13 is filled with oil the piston 14 is stopped in the position indicated P, valves V1, V2 are closed and V3 opened. The piston is then pulled down slowly so that the oil in chamber B is forced up through the holes 143 and becomes degasified. On the up stroke of the piston the released gas is forced through outlet 15 and via valve V3 to a gas analyser GC. When sufficient gas has been collected the operation is complete. The piston may be replaced by a bellows and a silica gel filter may be arranged in series with valve V3. The various components may be assembled in a single unit which can be assembled with the transformer. A motor or electromagnetic means may be used to operate the device.
