Abstract

1315443 Derivatives of α-aminopenicillins BEECHAM GROUP Ltd 9 Feb 1972 [2 March 1971] 5851/71 Heading C2A The invention comprises penicillins of Formula I or non-toxic salts and esters thereof, wherein R represents a cyclohexenyl, alkoxycyclohexenyl, oxocyclohexenyl or oxocyclohexyl ring and X represents an amino or protected amino group. Also included within the scope of the invention are compounds of Formula II Examples of the above penicillins include D-α- amino - α - (1 - cyclohexenyl) - methyl penicillin, D - α - (1 - methoxycarbonylpropen - 2 - ylamino) - methoxy - 1,4 - cyclohexadienylmethyl penicillin and D-α-amino-4-oxo-cyclohex-2-enylmethyl penicillin. The compounds of Formula I may be prepared by coupling 6-amino-penicillanic acid with a carboxyl activated derivative of a compound of Formula III wherein Y is a protected amino group corresponding to the group X in Formula I.
