Abstract

1315255 Cutting apparatus HERMANN BERSTORFF MASCHINENBAU GmbH 23 Sept 1971 [28 Sept 1970] 44310/71 Heading B4B A cutting apparatus for cutting a web of material, e.g. for making tyres, into lengths 4a on the bias comprises a conveyer 1 for transporting the web through the apparatus, and a cutting cylinder 7 having a blade 8 extending helically along the periphery of the cylinder. The blade 8 may be in the form of a single-start or multi-start helix and co-operate with a backing roller 9 which may also be provided with a co-operating helical blade; alternatively, the roller 9 may be replaced by a plane surface. The gap between the cylinder and roller may be adjusted by a screw 10. Means are provided for adjusting the speed of rotation of the cylinder.
