Abstract

1315073 Containers for liquids FRUEHAUF CORP 20 May 1971 [24 Aug 1970] 15987/71 Heading B8P A tank and framework therefor is fitted with standard corner attachments, the framework being constructed to withstand outside loads and the tank being constructed to withstand the loads required to contain the product safely. The framework comprises strong steel end frames 12, 13 and an aluminium central section 14, Fig. 11, riveted to the end frames. The tank carries stainless steel pressure pads 58 welded thereto which rest on stainless steel bolsters carried by the end frames. The top of the framework carries walkways and a ladder 31 provides access. Tunnels 92 in the base of the frame 14 facilitate lifting by a fork-lift truck. A layer of polyvinyl tape is interposed between the aluminium frame and the steel end frames. A warming channel may be provided along the central bottom part of the tank for steam or electric heating. A safety rupture disc is provided. A delivery pie and valve 84 are fitted, an operating device which is manual or automatic being connected to the valve. In the event of fire the valve is closed automatically. The operating device is enclosed to prevent tampering. A sign 99 is turnable to expose such wording as "inflammable", "loaded" or "unloaded". The bolsters can be placed near the centre of the framework to allow for expansion of the tank.
