Abstract

1315024 Suction cleaner nozzles ELECTROLUX Ltd 12 Nov 1970 [28 Nov 1969] 53894/70 Heading A4F In a suction cleaner nozzle having a suction operated shifting device for engaging with a working surface either of two working members, e.g. a brush or a flat surfaced nozzle member, the device is acted upon by a force which varies in accordance with the quantity of air drawn per unit time through the suction channel of the nozzle A holder 29 for a brush 31 is secured to interconnected diaphragms 20, 21. When the nozzle is applied to a hard flow the air-flow into the nozzle is such that a sufficient pressure differential is produced between an opening 42 in the diaphragm 20 and openings 41 communicating with a chamber 37 above the diaphragm 21 to cause the diaphragms 20, 21 and the brush 31 to be forced downwardly to engage the flow. When, however, the nozzle is applied to a carpet the rate of air-flow is such that a resultant upward force acts upon the diaphragms 20, 21 to raise the brush 31 so that nozzle plate 15 engages the carpet.
