1313589 Trichlorophenol CENTERCHEM Inc 20 July 1970 35014/70 Heading C2C A process for the preparation of 2,4,5- trichlorophenol comprises heating an initial mixture of 1,2,4,5-tetrachlorobenzene, sodium hydroxide and methyl alcohol, adding to the reaction product formed as a result of heating said mixture an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide, heating and cooling the mixture containing sodium hydroxide to form a solution of 2,4,5-trichlorophenol and methyl alcohol, recovering the methyl alcohol and isolating the 2,4,5-trichlorophenol. Examples are furnished.
