Abstract
1312553 Tube mills F L SMIDTH & CO A/S 23 Nov 1971 [15 Jan 1971] 2123/71 Heading B2A A tube mill of the kind comprising a rotating cylinder with one or more screening diaphrams between compartments and/or at the exit from the mill, has at least one diaphragm formed by a thick plate 20 arranged on the mill inlet side and having relatively coarse apertures 22, superposed on a thinner plate 19 having finer apertures 28. The plate 20 excludes the grinding bodies and resists the strains of grinding and the plate 19 prevents passage of insufficiently ground material. A third plate (not shown) having apertures registering with and of the same size as those of the thick plate may be secured against the thin plate. A bar or wire mesh could replace the thin plate. In the embodiment shown, the mill has a lining 3 and a solid plate 13 having a central opening is secured downstream of the diaphragm and has a lining 15. The diaphragm has a central sieve 25 and radial ribs 29 which sweep grinding bodies &c clear of the upstream side. A skeleton disc 17 backs up the plate 19.
