Abstract

1312433 Measuring liquid level ROSEMOUNT ENG CO Ltd 22 Dec 1971 [13 Jan 1971] 1692/71 Heading G1N A capacitive probe for liquid level detection comprises an insulating tube 10, to the inside of which has been applied at least one strip 12 of self-adhesive metal foil tape, the tube being closed at one end 11 and filled with expanded plastics foam. The probe may be made up from stock lengths of polypropylene, U.P.V.C., P.T.F.E., or glass tube and the metal tape applied by a spring-loaded roller. The capacitance between the stop 12 and the liquid or the capacitance between two such diametrically opposite stops (22, 23) may be measured.
