Abstract

1312125 Reciprocating compressors I PELLIZZETTI 16 July 1970 19 July 1969 14 Jan 1970 and 20 Feb 1970] 34556/70 Heading FIN A compressor for a refrigeration system has a piston 14 reciprocable by an inclined crank 2a, the crank 2a being enclosed in a tubular part 18a to which is fixed a flexible diaphragm 22 sealingly separating the crankcase 6 from a bearing housing 5. Thus the crankcase 6 is hermetically sealed, while the motor (not shown) driving the crankshaft 2 is accessible for maintenance. The tubular part 18a is non-rotatable about its axis, the axis describing a cone during operation. The movement of the tubular part 18a is converted into reciprocatory movement of the piston 14 by a cylindrical member 18 slidable in a transverse bore in the piston and secured to the tubular part 18a. Alternatively, Fig.4 4 (not shown), the tubular part is provided with a spherical socket (29) which receives one of the spherical ends of a connecting rod (28), the other spherical end being received in a spherical socket in the piston 14. A conical spring (33) surrounding the connecting rod (28) urges the rod ends into their sockets. A delivery valve in the form of an O-ring 11 and an inlet valve 10 in the cylinder head 7 or the piston 14 are provided. A cavity A is filled with lubricant for the crankshaft 2.
