Abstract

1311853 Spirit levels RABONE CHESTERMAN Ltd 8 Oct 1970 [12 July 1969] 35202/69 Heading G1F A spirit level comprising a chamber 411 containing a liquid and a bubble is provided with markings 416 so that by aligning the bubble with different markings different predetermined angles of inclination of the level can be obtained, the chamber 411 being non-circular in cross-section in any plane and bounded by arcuate surfaces which are concave relative to the centre of the chamber. The chamber 411 which may be defined by two transparent body halves of plastics material may be mounted on a stock 450 having a surface 451 for abutting a surface whose inclination is to be tested. The body halves may additionally be provided with part spherical surfaces (218) Fig. 2 (not shown) having markings (219) which can be used in conjunction with the bubble to indicate errors in levelling of a horizontal surface.
