Abstract

1311567 Hose reels H K PRICHARD 4 Oct 1971 [2 July 1970] 32047/70 Heading B8M A hose-reel device comprises a stand 11 having a hollow spindle 20, a hose-reel 30 rotatably mounted on the spindle, a bush 21 journailed in the spindle, and hose unions 25, 22, mounted at opposite sides of the reel, one on the bush 21 and the other on the spindle, the spindle and the bush 21 together defining a passage between the hose unions, and the bush and its union 22 being rotatable with the reel relative to the spindle. The stand 11 is formed from a single length of tubular metal and is formed with a base 12 and two uprights 13, 14, one of which, viz. 14, has welded thereto a socket member 17. The spindle 20 is screw-engaged in the member 17 and passes through bearing bushes 36 in the reel flanges 31. The end of the spindle remote from the member 17 rotatably receives a nylon bearing bush 21 which screw-engages the end of the member 22. Sealing rings and bushes are provided to mount the reel on the spindle. In use, a hose is wound on the reel, the outer end being connected to a tap, and the inner end being connected to the member 22. An auxiliary hose, preferably with a spray head, is connected to the mounting 25 at the other end of the spindle. The flanges 31 are preferably provided with peripheral rolling surfaces 33 whereby the device can be inverted and pushed or pulled on the surfaces 33 by means of a handle 15 on the stand 11. The member 22 is preferably curved and engages a flange 31 to be rotated thereby.
