Abstract

1311474 Gas cushion vehicles VOSPER Ltd 31 March 1970 [2 April 1969] 17305/69 Heading B7K The skirt of a gas cushion vehicle is horizontally adjustable to vary the centre of pressure of the cushion relative to the hull and so control the trim, by coarse and fine shift mechanisms. As described these comprise a plurality of parallel spaced fluid cylinders 21, 23 secured to the hull 11, the cylinders 21 actuating a pulley system with a velocity ratio < 1 : 1 to provide coarse shift, and the cylinders 23 being directly connected to the skirt by cables 26 to provide the fine adjustment. The pulley system which is connected to a plurality of beams 20 which strengthen the junction formed by skirt portions 14, 18, 19 may be replaced by a lever with a velocity ratio < 1 : 1 pivotally mounted on the hull 11. The cables 26 may be connected as shown or to the junction formed by an outer part 17 of the skirt and the outer top corner of the skirt portion 14, which is a lower and segmented portion.
