Abstract

1311074 Anchor bolts OMARK AUSTRALIA Ltd 30 July 1971 [31 July 1970] 36018/71 Heading F2H A masonry anchor comprises a bolt 12 with a tapered head 14, a rigid sleeve 18 around the bolt shank 16, a nut 24 for drawing the head 14 into the sleeve 18 to expand the latter, and a crushable collar 22 around the bolt shank 16 adjacent the rear end of the sleeve 18, the collar 22 having sufficient rigidity to resist the compressive force for expanding the sleeve 18 but insufficient to prevent crushing when that force is exceeded. The collar 22 is of plastics, e.g. A.B.S., and the sleeve 18 of steel. The sleeve has a split 20 from its leading end to facilitate expansion. The collar 22 allows a member 30 to be tightly held against the masonry 28 without loosening the anchorage of the expanded portion of the sleeve.
