Abstract

1310777 Weightng apparatus LUTRANA SA 12 Aug 1971 [19 Aug 1970] 37833/71 Heading G1W A pendulum assembly of a balance comprises a member 3 adapted to carry a counterweight (not shown) and having a cam 5 from which a weighing pan (not shown) can be suspended by a ribbon 6, and an arm 7 connecting the member 3 to a weight indicating mechanism, the member 3 being suspended from two spaced apart vertical tracks 1 by two parallel ribbons 2 secured at their upper ends to respective tracks 1 and at their lower ends to respective lugs 11, each ribbon 2 contacting a bearing face 10 of the member over an arc of less than 90 degrees, the bearing faces 10 being separated from the lugs 11 by a recess 12 so that the ribbons 2 extend linearly between the bearing faces 10 and lugs 11 without contacting anything. As shown, the bearing face 10 is part of the periphery of a roller seated in, or integral with the member 3, the distance between the roller and the lug 11 being at least eight times the diameter of the roller. In Fig.2, (not shown), the bearing face is a knife edge. The arm 7 carries a transparent graduated scale 8 forming part of an optical projection system.
