Abstract
1,268,048. Mirror mountings. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP. June 16, 1969 [June 18, 1968], No.28945/68. Heading G2J. [Also in Division C1 A mirror 3 is supported by flexible rods 2, e.g. of aluminium, which are fixed at one end to a rigid backing plate (1), Fig. 2 (not shown) and joined at the other end 4 to the glass. The rods thereby provide a rigid axial support for the mirror and yet accommodate differential lateral flexing between the mirror and the backing plate. The spacing of the rods is not more than five times the local thickness of the glass and the rods are shaped to have flexibilities proportional to their respective distances from the mirror axis.
