1310330 Comminuting apparatus; mixing apparatus METALL GESELLSCHAFT AG 9 Nov 1971 [14 Nov 1970] 52043/71 Headings B2A and B1C Apparatus for mixing and comminuting solid material comprises a rectangular cross section well-like housing 1 containing beater rolls 2, 3, 4 mounted one under another on parallel rotational axes. Two longitudinal walls of the housing are parallel to each other and to a plane containing the axes of rotation of the beater-rolls. These walls are arranged as closely as possible to the beater rolls and are movable upwards or downwards, and, as described, comprise conveyor belts 8, 9. Each beater roll 2, 3, 4, comprises two steel discs 11 mounted on a shaft 5, 6, 7, and rectangular bars 12 parallel to the shaft axis which are evenly spaced around the periphery of the discs. The upper pair of rolls 2, 3 are rotated in the same sense and the lower roll 4 in the opposite sense, the speed increasing from the uppermost to the lowermost roll.
