Abstract
1310225 Allyl alkanoates IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 17 July 1970 [28 July 1969] 37788/69 Heading C2C Allyl alkanoates are prepared by contacting in the vapour phase propylene, oxygen and an alkanoic acid containing up to six carbon atoms with a catalyst comprising a palladium salt, an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal salt and a copper or tin salt in the substantial absence of halide ions. The reaction temperature may be 50-200‹ C. and the pressure 1 to 200 atmospheres. The catalyst may be supported on a carrier such as a zeolite, carbon, pumice, silica, asbestos, magnesia, silicon carbide and alumina. The catalyst may also contain gold and/or one or more noble metals of Group VIII of the Mendeleef Periodic Table.
