1437899 Chlorine substituted aromatic carboxylic acid chlorides DYNAMIT NOBEL AG 16 Dec 1974 [17 Dec 1973] 54332/74 Heading C2C A process for the preparation of a chlorinesubstituted aromatic carboxylic acid chloride comprises subjecting an aromatic acid chloride containing more than one carboxylic acid chloride group to partial decarbonylation at a temperature of from 230‹ to 450‹ C. in the presence of, as catalyst, an element of Group VIII of the Periodic Table or a compound thereof. The process may be carried out in the liquid or vapour phase. In the vapour phase the process is preferably carried out in the presence of an inert carrier gas.
