Abstract

1309874 2 - (α - Methylphenethylamino)- aceto - 2<SP>1</SP>,6<SP>1</SP> - xylidide CENTRE D'ETUDES POUR L'INDUSTRIE PHARMACEUTIQUE 4 June 1971 19095/71 Heading C2C The novel title compound and acid addition salts thereof are prepared by reacting α-methylphenethylamine with 2 - chloro - 2<SP>1</SP>,6<SP>1</SP>- acetoxylidide, resulting from the reaction between chloroacetyl chloride and 2,6-xylidine. Pharmaceutical compositions, suitable for oral, parenteral or rectal administration, contain the above novel compound or acid addition salts thereof together with pharmaceutically acceptable vehicles. The compound possesses antiarrhythmic, local anaesthetic, anorexant, antiinflammatory and analgesic properties.
