Abstract

1309812 Caps for closing pipe ends DOVER CORP 1 May 1970 [2 May 1969] 21082/70 Heading F2P A cap 14 for closing the end of a pipe comprises a number of pivoted arms (as shown two arms 19, 23) spaced symmetrically around the periphery of the cap and means for simultaneously moving both or all of the arms to a position in which they fasten the cap to the pipe. As shown, each arm is connected by a link 29 to a handle 28 slidable on a boss 30 upstanding centrally from the cap. On depressing the handle, the free ends of the arms engage a surface 2, 6 of the pipe. In the fastened position, an overcentre condition exists in which pivots 32, 36 are nearer the cap than pivots 33, 37. A sealing gasket 15 is held within the cap by a ring 16. Apertures 43, 44 may receive a locking means when the cap is fastened.
