Abstract

1309362 Cartridges for incapacitating human targets MB ASSOCIATES 6 May 1971 [21 May 1970] 13426/71 Heading F3A A cartridge for incapacitating a human target comprises a projectile 34 which expands radially along its trajectory so as to impart its kinetic energy to the target over a maximum area and with minimum penetration. The projectile comprises a fabric bag filled with steel balls or a net weighted at its periphery. The cartridge is fired from a rifled weapon so that the projectile is expanded under the action of centrifugal forces. The projectile is propelled by a polyethylene piston 30 and a felt gas seal 32 which are subject to the action of propellant gases derived from a charge 28 housed in a spacer 24.
